Understanding Our 7 Pillars
Pillar 1: COMMUNITY & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
There is power in the community. Our community development pillar focuses on supporting and building neighborhood block clubs to foster community engagement and create a safety net where our neighbors, children, youth, and families can live and prosper.
Pillar 2: MENTAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, PHYSICAL HEALTH
We offer preventive care, treatment, and follow-up care in support of mental health, substance abuse and physical health. We provide access to both consumers and the general public who may be need of transportation to health appointments.
Pillar 3: R.E.A.L BROTHERS
Through mentorship and guidance, we equip boys and young men to envision a future full of opportunities. We empower them with knowledge of their heritage, confidence, and essential life skills to become outstanding individuals who contribute to their communities and inspire the next generation. CFDI and its partners continue to implement effective approaches such as restorative practices to support youth in developing stronger conflict resolution abilities, positive behavior, and promoting health and personal development.
Pillar 4: JUVENILE JUSTICE
Our goal is to keep our youth out of the juvenile system. Through these programs, we’re able to provide mentorship, jobs, and community support to reduce police engagement. In the event we have youth that have faced challenges to the law, we work directly with families to provide treatment, school engagement, and workforce opportunities for the long-term goal of returning youth to their communities as productive citizens, for the remainder of their lives.
Pillar 5: EARLY CHILDHOOD
Every child deserves the right to literacy and a healthy lifestyle. Through our early childhood programs, we seek to equip parents and caregivers with the tools needed to foster early literacy, routine health care and healthy development in children ages 0-5 years of age. We do this through three different programs: Parents As Teachers, LENA Start, and Project Launch.
Pillar 6: FAMILY PRESERVATION We want to keep families together. Our goal is to stabilize the family unit, prevent crises and provide access to resources that prevent families from separation. We do this through supportive visitation, working with parent partners to return children, homeless prevention services, and providing community resources through our intake department.
Pillar 7: SCHOOL-BASED SUCCESS
Our team of licensed therapists provides training, coaching, counseling and necessary wraparound support to parents, teachers, and students to promote school retention, engagement and overall child and family well-being.
