Prevention

Homeless Prevention
The Homeless Prevention Program is a program to prevent and reduce the risks of homelessness for residents of Wayne County. The program provides housing assistance to both families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The program provides services to qualified individuals in three areas:

  • Landlord-Tenant Mediation Services: A Case Manager establishes a liaison between the landlord and the tenant at risk of eviction, it attempts to reconcile differences and avoid family’s displacement.
  • Home Maintenance/Repair and Education: A Case Manager provides hands-on, and referral assistance to address home cleanliness and environmental risks that may result in eviction or the removal of children due to unsafe household conditions.
  • Housing Resource Development: A Case Manager assists the family with identifying and pursuing safe, affordable housing.



Family Connection-Building Foundations, First Contact Program

Centers for Family Development, Inc.’s Family Connection-Building Foundations, First Contact Program is a community-based program that provides prevention services for families with children at risk of entering the juvenile justice and/or abuse/neglect systems. The primary goal of the program is to stabilize youth and families through direct services and skill building to prevent out-of-home placement.
